Peter's and Leonard's comments on the *incidence matrix* and related issues are lengthy so not reproduced and anyway I am in general agreement. I am uneasy about placing equivalent representations in a subtree seperate from the blocks subtree while also having the blocks subtree be optional. If the list of blocks is optional, why give it separate status? JP
